Roads Less Traveled is a series of artworks that emerged from my participation in the Indibano Art Residency Program. Inspired by patterns of migration, this series delves into the multifaceted nature of home and the “what ifs” that shape our journeys.
The images presented here offer a glimpse into the imaginary lives of women who leave Zimbabwe in search of a better life. Upon arriving in Dallas, these women embark on diverse paths, one becoming a vegetable grower, another a congresswoman, and yet another a runaway bride.
Through these undocumented narratives, I aim to explore the intersection of identity, migration, and the complexities of finding home in a foreign land. These artworks invite viewers to ponder their own journeys and the choices that have shaped their lives. By presenting these women’s stories, I hope to spark conversations about the human experience and the enduring search for belonging.
